CARLO ANCELOTTI PREDICTS REAL MADRID STAR IS READY TO 'REPLACE' TONI KROOS

Real Madrid remain unbeaten after the first two games of their La Liga title defence this season.

Carlo Ancelotti's side followed up an opening 1-1 draw at Mallorca with a first home victory of the campaign as they cruised past Real Valladolid in the Spanish capital.

Kylian Mbappe's lack of a league goal so far is a slight concern for Ancelotti but Los Blancos fans favourite Fede Valverde continues to impress in the midfield engine room.

The Uruguayan international is highly rated by Ancelotti for his positional versatility and consistency in Real Madrid's biggest games.

A superb free kick from the 26-year-old opened the scoring against Valladolid, and he dedicated the goal to Ancelotti at full time, with the admiration clearly a mutual thing.

"Scoring from a direct free kick is much more difficult in today's football. Fede had to shoot, and from today I won't have to force him", as per quotes from Mundo Deportivo.

"He continues to progress, showing more personality and responsibility in the team. For me, he can't be replaced in this squad.

"He's an irreplaceable player for his quality, intelligence, strength. It's a blessing to have him. Toni Kroos chose the perfect player to replace him, not just because of quality, but because of mentality."

German veteran Kroos opted to bring down the curtain on his incredible career after Euro 2024 this summer following his decision not to sign a contract extension at Real Madrid.

Valverde was given his available No.8 shirt for the new season and his form has stepped up a level in recent weeks as the heartbeat of Ancelotti's star studded team.
