KYLIAN MBAPPE AND ANTOINE GRIEZMANN 'STUNNED INTO SILENCE BY FRANCE TEAM-MATE'S FURIOUS RANT AFTER 3-1 DEFEAT BY ITALY'

Mike Maignan reportedly took his France team-mates to task after they suffered defeat against Italy on Friday.

Les Bleus got off to a perfect start at the Parc des Princes, with Bradley Barcola firing the hosts into the lead in the opening minute.

Federico Dimarco drew Italy level before the interval in the Nations League clash before second-half goals from Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori condemned the hosts to a humiliating defeat.

According to a report from French outlet L'Equipe, Maignan erupted into a two-minute speech inside the dressing room, slamming his side's commitment and attitude.

The AC Milan goalkeeper also reportedly stated that while just two Italian players would get in the French starting XI, they deserved to triumph on the night because they wanted it more.

After slamming their effort, Maignan's team-mates are said to have been stunned into silence, with neither captain Kylian Mbappe nor his deputy Antoine Griezmann addressing the squad afterwards.

The 29-year-old later refused to divulge exactly what had happened in the dressing room but insisted the team would be able to move on from the incident.

'It's a defeat that hurts,' Maignan admitted.

'It was a bad day, we found a great team that defended well. We cannot close every game with an unbeaten goal. I took it badly, the group took it badly.

'We have to recover immediately. What is said in the locker room stays between us. We will discuss it tomorrow.

'There is no need to worry. When we lose a game, it's not the end of the world. We all have a role to play on the pitch.

'We know we have to do better, the French team has to win. We will not look for excuses, we will question ourselves and move forward.'

Didier Deschamps' side will look to bounce back from the defeat when they play host to Belgium on Monday night.
