RED SOX ROOKIE OUTFIELDER EJECTED IN MONDAY NIGHT BATTLE WITH BLUE JAYS
While doubleheaders in the MLB make for long days, Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu finished earlier than his teammates.
In the third inning of Boston's night game against the Toronto Blue Jays, Abreu struck out swinging on a 3-2 count with one out and a man on second base. However, earlier in the at-bat, he felt a pitch called a strike should've been called a ball. The pitch zone proved that it was a strike.
After being rung up, Abreu turned and said something to home plate umpire Paul Clemons. In return, Clemons ejected Abreu and sent him back to the clubhouse
Red Sox manager Alex Cora came to the defense of his rookie outfielder and was arguing his case against Clemons, as it appeared to be a rather quick hook.
This is Abreu's first ejection in his career. Later in the inning, first baseman Triston Casas drove in the run from second base with a single to left field.
